This was a very large effort by ETS and the Blended Learning Initiative for the Spanish programs. The “container” was largely designed by Dean Blackstock. It pulls in various components (mostly SWF) to create a lesson. It relies on file structure and it can easily be re-arranged and customized. For example, Objectives can be mixed and matched by simply copying folders from different lessons.
The components within each lesson were developed by ID&D. There was a push to place the editing process in the hands of ID’s and IDA’s who may not necessarily have Flash expertise. Therefore, all the components were deliberately designed to rely on file structure and XML files. The XML files provide the content and the file references for the images, sounds, copyright information, etc.
